2008 DESIGNATED RECYCLABLES
The following recycling commodities have been identified by the Douglas County
Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) as designated recyclables for 2007. By
being designated, these recycling commodities have been identified as the
recyclables to be collected at the Community Recycling Centers (CRC’S) within
Douglas County. Though there may be other recycling commodities that are
currently being collected within Douglas County the SWAC believes that the
uncertainty of a stable market prevents these commodities from being placed on
the designated recyclables list.
Only recycling commodities which the SWAC believes have a stable, six
month minimum local market value are placed on this annual designated
recyclables list. It is the belief of SWAC that only those commodities that
have demonstrated a stable and dependable end user market should be
collected from the public, thereby preventing the public from having to
constantly change their recycling habits.
